Cameron Esposito drops by Re-bar on Jan. 4

From Jeff Albertson: On her new album, “Same Sex Symbol,” comedian Cameron Esposito speaks candidly about her sexuality and appearance. “As you can tell by my haircut, I am a Thundercat … and also a giant lesbian! Of course I am, I have a side mullet and I look like most of Portland’s men.” Her album, recorded live in Portland and released on Olympia-based Kill Rock Stars, was named Best Comedy Album of 2014 by The Onion’s entertainment website, The A.V. Club.

In 2014, Esposito made her late-night debut on “Late Late with Craig Ferguson,” where she was playfully heckled by Ferguson and guest Jay Leno after making a joke about the latter’s love of all things denim. Leno also called Esposito the “future of comedy.” So far, she’s doing all she can to warrant that accolade. The Chicago native moved to Los Angeles in 2010 to record her debut album and followed with a string of high-profile gigs, appearing on “Conan,” “Maron” and “Chelsea Lately.” Along with performing stand-up, Esposito also hosts a popular YouTube video series, “Ask A Lesbian With Cameron Esposito” and writes the column “Who In The World Is Cameron Esposito?” for The A.V. Club.
Esposito will perform at 3 and 7 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 4, at Re-bar, Seattle; $20-$25.
