‘Wine Shots’: comedy, nostalgia, a Michael Bolton cover band

"Wine Shots: Comedies Happiest Hour", Sunday, Jan. 11 in the Grotto at the Rendezvous.

“Wine Shots: Comedy’s Happiest Hour”, 7:30 p.m., Sunday, Jan. 11 in the Grotto at the Rendezvous.

Do you have a love of ’80s/’90s nostalgia and a thirst for  wine in a shot glass? If you answered yes to either of those questions, put down your wine spritzer and read on. “Wine Shots: Seattle’s Happiest Comedy Hour” not only specializes in entertaining audiences with a monthly evening of stand-up, movie monologues, sketches and themes targeting girlhood memories, but also boasts a closing performance by Lightning  Bolton — an all-female Michael Bolton cover band.

Wine Shots,” led by executive producer Elicia Sanchez, takes place on the second Sunday of every  month in the Grotto at the JewelBox Theater (Rendezvous Restaurant & Bar) in  Seattle.

Billed as Seattle’s only stand-up comedy night that is produced, staffed and performed entirely by women, Sunday’s show features Bettina McKelvey (one of Seattle’s best story-telling comics), Jennifer Burdette (JoeTV, Competitive Erotic Fan Fiction), Sarah Skilling (Seattle International Comedy Competition, Mortified), Sanchez (Bridgetown, Bumbershoot, All Jane No Dick, The [206]), Andy Iwancio (Comedy Womb Tour, Out & In) and Mary Lou Gamba (The Comedy Womb, Central Comedy Show).

Doors are at 7:30 p.m. and tickets, which cost $5, are available via BrownPaperTickets.com.
