Seattle’s comedy scene has an abundance of open mics. Evan Morrison and Albert Kirchner feel a curated approach is better.
The “Henrietta Comedy Show,” hosted by Seattle comedians Morrison and Kirchner, is bringing a carefully selected lineup of comedy to Capitol Hill’s Eclectic Theater every Second Saturday of the month.
“The format is designed for comedians to showcase the heart of their act in a curated environment,” Kirchner said, “We will introduce two comics doing 20-minute sets and finally a more established comedian performing for 30 minutes. We ask comics to focus on their more artistically fulfilling materials and styles. If the show is on their side, they will be more comfortable and playful, creating a better show overall.”
The lineup for Saturday, Dec. 13 features Emmett Montgomery and Elicia Sanchez, both of whom were recently selected by NBC’s “Last Comic Standing” for call-back auditions in Los Angeles. Montgomery also opened for Dave Chappelle at the Neptune Theatre recently and Sanchez is fresh of a tour opening for Hari Kondabolu. Ryan Casey, who also co-hosts “Laugh Riot” at the Naked City Brewery, will also be a featured performer.
Doors are at 10 p.m. and tickets, which cost $8-$10, can be reserved by phone at 800-838-3006 or online via Brown Paper Tickets.
