The concept of throwing a show to advertise a much bigger show just makes for a silly time. It doesn’t matter how awesome the music is, there’s just no getting that promotional taste out of your mouth.

Classic rocker Elvis Costello, pop band Foster the People and pioneering rap outfit Wu-Tang Clan are three of the headliners booked for Bumbershoot this year. The annual arts festival is presented on Labor Day weekend at Seattle Center, Aug. 30-Sept. 1.
