Punchline Comedy will tape regional comics ‘For the Record’ | Comedy preview

Starting in January Punchline Comedy Shows will be partnering with to record the stand-up of over 50 regional comedians in the back bar at Jai Thai on Broadway. The recordings will be produced for potential use as official submissions to SiriusXM, Laughs (Syndicated on Fox), or nationwide festivals. Shows are on Saturday and start at 9 p.m. Admission is free (seating is limited and guests are encouraged to arrive early).

Punchline Comedy Shows has been producing comedy at Jai Thai since 2010. It’s one of the longest running and independently produced comedy nights in Seattle and has become ground zero for Seattle’s alternative comedy scene. Punchline also produces a weekly open mic every Tuesday and every other Friday. On the weekends, the healthy crowd transforms the venue into a place where local comedians can get much-needed stage time to hone their craft.

Comedian Aparna Nancherla has written for “Totally Biased with W. Kamau Bel” was just named one of Time Magazine’s best twitter feeds of 2014, been a guest on Marc Maron’s “WTF Podcast” and will now headline a series of independently produced comedy shows showcasing Seattle’s talented alternative comedy scene.

The RendezvousComedy Womb – May 13th & 14th – $10 Tickets – Comedy Womb is a Seattle based female focus but not female exclusive weekly open mic that takes place in The Grotto space of the Rendezvous Restaurant and Lounge. It began as a dream to even the ratio of male to female comedians in Seattle. Aparna will appear as headliner early on in both shows, followed by the usual open mic.

Jai Thai on BroadwayPunchline Comedy Shows – May 15th, 16th & 17th – Free Entry – Comedy shows happen at least four days a week in the back bar of Jai Thai in Seattle’s iconic Capitol Hill. They feature some of Seattle’s best up & coming comedians working with established comics every Tuesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Aparna will appear as a special guest on the Thursday variety show and will headline the shows on Friday and Saturday.

Tacoma Comedy Club – May 18th – $10 Tickets – Even as a relatively new comedy club, Tacoma Comedy Club has quickly established itself as one of the premier comedy venues in the Pacific Northwest due to their clear love of comedy and world class talent. Aparna will headline the one night only Sunday show at the club.
