Vinyl junkies, what’s going in your bag on Record Store Day?

Record Store Day is April 19.

Record Store Day is April 19.

I am a vinyl junkie and Record Store Day is my drug. The annual event takes place on Saturday, April 19 and features a growing list of rare gems and limited-edition releases for sale at independently owned record stores.

Started to boost sales of a then slagging vinyl market, the event has grown in popularity with die-hard vinyl fans lining up around the block to get their hands on unique releases.

Last year I set my alarm for 5 a.m., foolishly thinking I’d probably be the first person in line. When I arrived I was 15th in line and ahead of me was a guy who had spent the night in a tent.

A full list of what’s available is on the Record Store Day website.

Built To Spill's "Ultimate Alternative Wavers" will be reissued on vinyl for the first time.

I’m hoping to snag a copy of Built to Spill’s “Ultimate Alternative Wavers,” which is being released on vinyl for the fist time, 21 years after it was initially released on CD and cassette by C/Z Records.

A full list of Seattle area music stores participating can be found here.
