Boil water advisory for Whatcom Co. town

There is not points to locate on the map

Customers of Acme Water District 18 in Whatcom County are being advised to boil their drinking water after a water main break caused portions of the water system to lose pressure, according to the state Department of Health.

When water pressure is lost, contaminants can enter the water system. Repairs are being made, but the water district is asking its customers to boil their drinking water as a safety precaution. The district also is asking its customers to conserve water during this time.

The advisory will likely be in effect for a few days, according to the Department of Health.

Acme is east of Lake Whatcom on Highway 9 between Sedro-Woolley and Deming.

The advisory affects 91 homes, seven businesses and the Acme Elementary School. The 200 students at the school were released early today because of the water outage.

Parents are encouraged to call the school district’s weather and operations phone line — 360-383-2070 — to see if school is operating tomorrow.  Water district customers who have questions can call the water district at 360-201-9285.
