Bremerton man shot during drug deal dispute

Bremerton police say a drug deal erupted into a shooting Tuesday night that left a 26-year-old man in critical condition at a Seattle hospital.

Police said the victim and some friends were conducting a drug deal with two men in a car in an apartment complex in the 1100 block of 12th Street when they began to argue. The argument escalated as the group climbed out of the car and the victim was shot.

The shooter and his friend fled in the car. The friends of the victim left on foot.

Police responded and found the victim, who was transported to Harrison Medical Center in Bremerton and later airlifted to Harborview Medical Center.

A Bremerton police K-9 led officers to a nearby home on Broadway Avenue, which was searched early Wednesday morning. Three people were detained for questioning and later released, police said.

Police have identified one of the suspects and have recovered the car in the South Kitsap area
