Bullets on board: Man accidentally shoots buddy

Seattle police have arrested a 23-year-old man after he accidentally shot a friend in the back.

After leaving a nightclub, police said the victim and suspect got into a Jeep Cherokee around 2 a.m. Friday. The victim was seated in the front passenger seat and the suspect was seated behind him. Police say the suspect was “messing with a handgun.

As the Cherokee got to Fourth Avenue South and South Walker Street, the the gun went off and the bullet passed through the seat, striking the 22- year-old victim in the lower back.

The Cherokee was stopped by police at Airport Way South and South Plum Street, where the victim was treated by Seattle Fire Department medics. He was taken to Medical Center in critical condition, police said.
