Darrington toddler hurt in shooting 'doing well'

There is not points to locate on the map

The toddler injured in a shooting last night in Darrington is “doing well” at a Seattle hospital, the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office said today. The injuries suffered by the 18-month-old boy are not considered life-threatening.

The boy was injured just before 7 p.m. Monday when a gun went off in a home in the 1100 block of Riddle Street. Detectives said adults at the home were looking at a gun when one of them apparently pointed the gun at a TV and pulled the trigger.

The gun discharged and the bullet went through the TV, the wall behind it and into an adjacent room where the toddler was, the Sheriff’s Office said.

The toddler was struck in the cheek and taken to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle. Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Rebecca Hover said today that it’s still not known whether the toddler was struck by a bullet, shrapnel, or a piece of plastic or wood.

No arrests have been made. The case will likely be referred to the Snohomish County Prosecutor’s Office for review once the investigation is complete, Hover said.
