They’re called “shower bands,” and they’re working their way across the skies of Western Washington.

What that means for folks underneath them is that familiar autumn on-and-off rain pattern, expected to continue through the day, into Tuesday night and in the early-morning hours of Wednesday.

If you’re into percentages, it goes like this: Sea-Tac has a 90 percent chance of rain Tuesday, 70 percent Tuesday night and 40 percent Wednesday morning.

Temperatures are below normal, but not by much: Tuesday’s forecast high is 59 and Wednesday’s is 57. Normal high for each date is 61.

Rain is expected to taper off by midday Wednesday, giving way to another familiar fall look around here: Mostly cloudy.
