Free movies – Uptown Theater – Queen Anne

THE UPTOWN THEATER, which had closed for a while, is now showing films as part of SIFF. (Photo by Greg Gilbert / The Seattle Times)

Can you beat this? Our film aficionado Moira Macdonald lets us know that films at the Uptown theater are free starting Sunday and running for five days, well, kind of free.

Here’s what she has to say on her blog:

You may have read about this elsewhere in the paper, but I wanted to be sure all P-and-P readers got the news: The grand reopening of the Uptown Theater, now operated by the Seattle International Film Festival, kicks off this weekend, and Sunday brings the start of five days of free classic movies. Yes, they’re free — if you present a same-day receipt (for any amount) from any Queen Anne business. Pick up a coffee or grab a burger before the show, and you’re set. (Without a receipt, tickets are still a bargain: $5.) Here are the movies, which include some of my favorites; for more information, see www.siff.net.
