ID theft victim helps Seattle police nab suspects

There is not points to locate on the map

A victim of identity theft is being credited with helping Seattle police nab the two suspects.

Police responded to a hotel in the 1100 block of Broadway Avenue around 12:30 p.m. Tuesday after receiving a call from the victim. The man told police his credit card company had called him and said that someone had used his credit card information to book a room at the hotel.

The officers went to the room and found two men. Also in plain view were several cell phones, laptop computers, a WiFi hot spot, router and papers with credit card numbers.

Fraud and forgery detectives were called and obtained a search warrant for the hotel room and the suspects’ vehicle, which was parked outside. A search of the room turned up the cell phones and laptop computers, as well as computer hard drives, iPod Touches, various electronic storage devices, magnetic card readers, routers, hotspots and computer peripherals along with unidentified pills and methamphetamine.

Police said a search of the suspects’ car turned up additional evidence of identity theft.

The two men were booked into King County Jail for investigation of identity theft.
