Introducing our newest blog, The Today File
Welcome to The Seattle Times’ new general news blog, The Today File. The goal of this blog is to provide readers with a quick read on the day’s news and a clearinghouse for the latest local reporting from across the Times newsroom.
Use the tabs at the top of the blog to jump straight to posts about crime (The Blotter), weather (Weather Beat) and commuting information (Traffic & Transit).
Look for a daily Morning Memo rounding up news nuggets and must-reads and previewing stories we’re chasing. The lead author of The Morning Memo and editor for the blog is assistant Metro editor Nick Provenza. Nick has been in newspapers for more than 35 years. He’s worked 27 years at The Times, and before that at the Yakima Herald-Republic and the Seattle P-I.
The Times is using this blog to experiment with Facebook’s commenting system. You must have a Facebook account in your real name to comment. Read more about this.
Please send feedback about the new blog to webmaster@seattletimes.com, and direct news tips to newstips@seattletimes.com.
