Kent police seek driver in fatal hit and run

There is not points to locate on the map
Kent police are asking for the public’s help in locating the driver of a pickup involved in a fatal hit-and-run accident on Saturday night.

Vadim Yakimov, 23, of Kent, was killed when he was struck just before 10:30 p.m. while crossing the 23500 block of 104th Avenue Southeast. Witnesses tell police a pickup traveling south on 104th struck Yakimov, who was thrown into an adjoining lane of traffic, where he was struck by a second vehicle. The driver of the pickup slowed momentarily, then sped away, police said.

Witnesses said the pickup had two doors and was bright yellow, possibly an import or similar-sized American-made truck. The truck had a set of cargo racks on the box. The pickup likely sustained damage to the front facing lights and a side mirror, police said.

The driver of the truck is described as a man about 30 years of age, with a mustache.

“We definitely want to speak with the driver to determine what happened” Kent police Lt. Pat Lowery said in a news release. “There are two sides to every story and we want to know what the driver saw and did.”

Anyone who knows the identity of the driver or the whereabouts of the pickup is asked to call Kent police at 253-856-4839.
