UPDATE: Standoff in Spanaway is over, man in custody

A man who had been firing a gun in a house and at Pierce County sheriff’s deputies this morning was taken into custody after a standoff, according to The News Tribune in Tacoma. Tear gas was launched into the man’s home, forcing him outside, the news paper said.  Sheriff’s spokesman Ed Troyer said the man will be involuntarily committed.
