No arrests after Lewis County coroner reissues warrants in Ronda Reynolds slaying

Warrants for arrest in the homicide of former state Trooper Ronda Reynolds were reissued Wednesday, according to a report in The (Centralia) Chronicle.

The warrants name Reynolds’ husband, Ron Reynolds, and her stepson, Jonathan Reynolds, said Lewis County Coroner Warren McLeod.

Jonathan and Ron Reynolds both cited Fifth Amendment rights in refusing to testify during this month’s inquest into the 33-year-old woman’s death, The Chronicle reported.

McLeod had issued arrest warrants last week after the inquest jury determined that when Ronda Reynolds died in 1998, it was as the result of homicide, and that her husband and stepson were responsible.

But the next morning he quashed them, citing an internal “legal issue.”

Wednesday morning, he said the legal issue was that a juror was reported seen with a copy of true crime-author Ann Rule’s book on Reynolds’ death in her purse, the Chronicle reported. The claim was unfounded, McLeod said.

The Lewis County Sheriff’s Office said Wednesday morning that no arrests had been made.

At 10 a.m. Thursday, Prosecutor Jonathan Meyer will announce whether his office is filing charges against Jonathan and Ron Reynolds.

The inquest reconvenes 9 a.m. Friday, during which McLeod will read his final orders, The Chronicle reports.
