Pedestrian dragged 72 feet by Auburn school bus

A man crossing a street was seriously injured Thursday morning when he was struck by a school bus in Auburn.

The pedestrian, described as a man in his 20s, was crossing I Street when he was hit by the Auburn School District bus. He was dragged 72 feet and suffered serious injuries to his head and legs, said Auburn police Cmdr. Mike Hirman. The man was in the crosswalk when he was struck.

“It was a collision; we don’t believe any criminal behavior was involved,” Hirman said, adding that the bus was empty when the collision occurred.
