Showers intense in some areas, but decreasing

A system of “intense showers” hit parts of King and Snohomish counties early Monday, but no flood warnings were posted and rain was expected to taper off by afternoon, said Weather Service forecaster Dennis D’Amico.

Renton was one of the soggiest areas, recording .41 inch of rain in the 24 hours ending 8 a.m. Monday.  A Seattle station had about a third of an inch in the same time period.

Monday afternoon and Tuesday are expected to be dry, according to the Weather Service forecast.

So far, October has been slightly wetter than usual in Seattle, with 2.77 inches of rain through Sunday, compared the normal reading of 2.24 inches.
