There's no hunt for wet October; it's just about here

What a Weather Service forecast describes as a “rather wishy washy front” is moving through the Puget Sound area Thursday morning, bringing spotty rain expected to decrease in the afternoon.

Stay tuned for rain that comes with a little more conviction:  A series of wetter systems is due to arrive Friday, making rain likely through Saturday, with a 50 percent chance of rain on Sunday.

Wednesday’s trace of rain recorded a Seattle-Tacoma International Airport  followed a dry week that included five rainless days, one day with a trace and one day with .01 inch of rain.

For the month, Sea-Tac has had 2.07 inches of rain, compared to a normal 1.73 inches of rain at this point in October.

If you want to talk about serious October rain, turn the calendar back eight years. The soggiest day on record as Sea-Tac was Oct. 20, 2003, with 5.02 inches of rain that swamped streets and triggered mudslides around Western Washington.
