Three students injured in Seattle bus crash

Three boys were taken to Harborview Medical Center after their school bus was struck by a car just after 9 a.m. Monday on Seattle’s Beacon Hill.

The special needs students at Van Asselt Elementary School were on their way to school, said Teresa Wippel, spokeswoman for Seattle Public Schools. Six other children on board the bus were not hurt, she said.

Seattle Fire Department spokesman Kyle Moore said that the three boys, — all between the ages of 7 and 8 — sustained minor injuries.

The driver of the bus was also taken to Harborview with unknown injuries, Wippel said.

A woman in her mid-30s whose car was involved in the crash at Beacon Avenue South and 38th Avenue South also was hospitalized for minor injuries, Moore said.

Details about the crash were unavailable. Seattle police are still investigating.
