Toddler hit by gunfire at Darrington home

An 18-month-old boy was injured Monday night after gun went off in a home in the 1100 block of Riddle Street in Darrington.

Snohomish County sheriff’s detectives say the shooting took place before 7 p.m. Adults at the home were looking at a newly purchased gun when one of them apparently pointed the gun at a TV and pulled the trigger.

The gun discharged and the bullet went through the TV, the wall and into an adjacent room where the boy was, the office said.

The toddler was struck in the cheek by the bullet or shrapnel. He was taken to Harborview Medical Center. His condition was not immediately known.
