Bail set at $2 million in Bellevue homicide

Bail for the 43-year-old Redmond man suspected of killing another man yesterday in Bellevue was set at $2 million this afternoon.

The deadline for filing charges is Friday, according to the King County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office. A judge found probable cause to hold the man for investigation of second-degree murder.

The shooting at the Belle Arts Apartments, in the 100 block of 108th Avenue Northeast, was reported just after 10 a.m. Police said there were three people in the apartment, including the victim, who was unconscious when officers arrived.

The victim was later pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

The shooting took place at suspect’s apartment, where his wife operates a business, according to an affidavit of probable cause that outlines the police case. The suspect’s’s wife employed the victim.

According to the affidavit, the victim and the suspect’s wife were leaving the apartment Tuesday morning when they encountered her husband. All three went back inside and the husband demanded that his wife fire the victim. When she said she couldn’t fire the man because he had a contract, the woman’s husband pulled out a handgun and shot the victim, the affidavit said.

The suspect told police he killed the victim because he believed he was having an affair with his wife, according to the affidavit.
