360-degree panorama: Seattle Times newsroom during election night

The panorama above shows the election coverage “center” set up in The Seattle Times newsroom Tuesday night. The scene was captured around 8:15 p.m. as election results began to arrive.

Meet our staff:

  • Front and center is Deputy Metro Editor Richard Wagoner. Across from him facing the camera is Metro Editor Mark Higgins talking with Local Government Editor Beth Kaiman.
  • Scrolling clockwise, social media producer Sona Patel sits at the table with a pink water bottle; she sifted through #waelex tweets and posted breaking news updates to our Twitter and Facebook accounts.
  • Reporter Emily Heffter and Managing Editor Suki Dardarian sat at the small table where they handled election posts from reporters in the field.
  • Behind Suki, seattletimes.com producers (Randi Petrello, Tiffany Campbell, Sharon Chan, Lauren Rabaino)  and Assistant Managing Editor Eric Ulken maintain the homepage.
  • Scrolling right, you’ll see reporter Jonathan Martin in the blue shirt, who also handled field reports.
  • Seattle Times Executive Editor and Senior Vice President David Boardman, wearing a green shirt, tweeted about the election from his iPad.
  • The cookies on the table were chocolate pecan and chocolate chip. Yes, we devoured them.
  • If you pan to the bottom of the photo, you’ll see a pair of floating feet. Those belong to the photographer, video editor Danny Gawlowski.
