Bellevue City Council: Light-rail supporters hang on

Bellevue voters retained two incumbents on the city council, while two candidates in an open seat were locked in a virtual tie.

John Chelminiak and Claudia Balducci, the two council members who won re-election, are part of a minority that supports Sound Transit’s planned light-rail route.

In the open seat, John Stokes, a retired attorney who strongly supports Sound Transit’s plan, held a slim edge over Aaron Laing.
