Feds raid multiple medical marijuana dispensaries

Federal agents have been seen outside medical marijuana dispensaries in Lacey, Tacoma and Seattle, indicating a coordinated raid similar to recent actions in California and other states.

Patient advocacy and legal defense groups say at least nine dispensaries have been raided.

DEA spokeswoman Jodie Underwood told KOMO News that search warrants were being executed, but declined to say how many. Emily Langlie, a spokeswoman for U.S. Attorney Jenny Durkan, declined to comment but said she would have information later in the day.

Ben Livingston of the Cannabis Defense Coalition said he’s spoken with several dispensary owners and defense attorney Aaron Pelley, who confirmed raids were occurring.

One raided location was the Seattle Cannabis Co-op in Seattle’s Crown Hill. A resident of the area, said he saw DEA agents armed with a shield and battering ram outside the dispensary at around 11:10 a.m., and a young woman in handcuffs.

Wes Abney, editor of Northwest Leaf, a medical marijuana newspaper, said the dispensary Seattle Cross on Capitol Hill also was hit this morning.
