UPDATE: All lanes open / Four vehicle collision near Mercer forces near shutdown of northbound I-5

UPDATE: All lanes of northbound I-5 were open by 8:45 a.m.

–Earlier post —

This morning’s commute through downtown Seattle is a mess if you’re heading north because a minor accident has forced the closure of all but one lane of Interstate 5 near the Mercer Street exit.

A four-vehicle collision, involving a semi and three cars, has snarled northbound traffic, said Washington State Patrol Trooper Julie Startup. The collision occurred at 7:25; only one lane will be open until the vehicles can be cleared.
