High winds, heavy rains due overnight

Parts of Western Washington could be in for some wild weather Saturday night and Sunday morning.

Areas near the coast and the northern interior may see sustained winds between 30 and 40 mph, with gusts up to 60, according to a “high wind warning” from the Weather Service.  The winds are expected to kick in about 9 p.m. Saturday and continue until 9 a.m. Sunday.

At the same time, heavy rain over the Olympics and North Cascades has triggered a flood watch along several Western Washington rivers, including the Stillaguamish in Snohomish County, the Nooksack in Whatcom County and the Skokomish in Mason County.
