Kent police warn public after two sexual assaults

There is not points to locate on the map

Kent police are investigating two sexual assaults they believe were committed by the same person.

The assaults took place over the weekend on or near Kent Kangley Road, said Kent Police Lt. Pat Lowery.

“In each case a single supsect approached his victim, inferred that he had a weapon, and then forced each woman to a secluded spot where she was assaulted,” Lowery said in a statement.

The first attack occurred at about 10 p.m. Saturday in the 12900 block of Kent Kangley Road. The second took place at 7:30 p.m. Sunday in the 26200 block of 116th Avenue SE, just north of Kent Kangley Road.

Police described the suspect as a light-skinned black male, about 18 or 19–years-old, with short black hair, about 5-feet-8-inches and a slender build. Police are developing sketches of the suspect.

“We want to ensure that the public is aware of these circumstances and remain vigilant for this man,” Lowery said.

Police advise pedestrians to avoid dark areas and walk on the side of the street with the best lighting. If you feel like you’re being followed, they say, you should move to a more crowded area. And if you’re in imminent danger, run, scream or create a disturbance.

Police also say it’s a good idea to carry keys in a clenched hand because you can use them to poke or punch the attacker if necessary.

Anybody with information should contact Kent police at 253-856-5808.
