Man critically injured in fight in International District Thursday

— From Times staff reporter Sara Jean Green:

A man suffered a life-threatening blow to the head during a fight early Thursday in Seattle’s International District, according to police.
Just after 2 a.m., officers were called to a fight disturbance involving at least 10 people in the 500 block of Maynard Avenue South, according to an item posted by spokesman Detective Mark Jamieson on the Seattle police department’s online blotter. One man involved in the fight was armed with a gun and another had a club or bat, Jamieson wrote.
Officers located a victim with a critical wound to his temple and he was taken to Harborview Medical Center. A second victim was also found, but the blotter item does not indicate that person’s gender or injury. A suspect was found hiding behind a car in a nearby alley and was arrested, according to Jamieson. The suspect, a 25-year-old man, was taken to Harborview after possibly breaking his thumb during the fight but was to be booked into jail on investigation of two counts of assault upon his release from the hospital, Jamieson wrote.
