Fog is more frequent now due to the temperature difference between the air and water, but the cold is quickly winning out. Today’s high in Seattle will be in the low 50s, with snow expected in the Cascade and Olympic mountains.

Three to 6 inches of snow could fall on some mountain routes, such as the Mount Baker Highway and the highway to the Paradise area at Mount Rainier, according to the National Weather Service.

Above, a float plane comes in for an early landing this morning on Lake Union.
