No media briefings today in missing child case

Bellevue police say they will not hold a news conference today to update the media on developments in the search for 2-year-old Sky Metalwala.

Police have been holding regular media briefings, often twice a day, to discuss developments in the case. Sky went missing Nov. 6. No additional briefings are planned for now, according to police.

The boy’s mother, Julia Biryukova, said Sky disappeared after she left him alone in an unlocked car in Bellevue after she ran out of gas.

According to police, Biryukova said she walked with her 4-year-old daughter to a Chevron station about a mile away. She called a friend who picked her up before she returned to her car.

When they arrived at the silver Acura Integra more than an hour later, Sky was gone, police said.
