Seattle City Council incumbents leading

Seattle City Councilmember Jean Godden was leading over challenger Bobby Forch after first returns were posted Tuesday.

Godden is seeking a third term and faced criticism from Forch for not being liberal enough. Forch, a manager in the city’s transportation department, is making his second attempt at a council seat. He lost in the primary in 2009.

Four other City Council members up for re-election were also leading: Councilmember Bruce Harrell was beating former financial journalist Brad Meacham.

Incumbent Sally Clark was easily defeating former public-access television station manager Dian Ferguson.

Council members Tom Rasmussen and Tim Burgess were also leading handily in early returns.
