The Morning Memo/Wednesday: Unlucky bank robber, feisty Pacific mayor, Amanda Knox

Weather: Let’s see … mostly sunny and a high around 48 today. Nice. Tomorrow: foggy morning, but sunny later in the day. Double nice. Friday, sorta nice with 30 percent chance of rain but some sun, too. We can live with that, right? More weather info.

Traffic: Not much trouble out there this morning. The map and the cams.

The new mayor of Pacific in south King County, Cy Sun, 81, a write-in candidate, says he’s not going to talk to the old mayor about a transition because he wants to “start something new,” according to a KING 5 report,

Why did he run? From the KING 5 story:

“Because nobody else is going to clean up the mess that’s in there,” he said.

Gotcha: Quick thinking by a plainclothes cop in Spokane caught a bank robber red-handed Tuesday. The robber was inside the teller’s booth when who should walk in but a police detective who quickly sized up the situation and held the robber at gunpoint until backup arrived, according to The Associated Press.

Amanda Knox: We ran a readers’ poll Tuesday on this blog asking you whether you thought the media should leave Amanda Knox alone, and whoa did you say it loud and clear. As of this morning, nearly 1,100 of you said enough’s enough, let her be. Only 100 or so said they want more.

Towing hell: If you’ve ever had your car towed and the experience was less than, let’s say, pleasant, you must read Danny Westneat’s column today about the poor fella who truly saw the downside of the towing world.
