12-year-old girl raped in family's Shoreline apartment

King County sheriff’s deputies are looking for a man who raped a 12-year-old Shoreline girl in the girl’s bedroom early Sunday morning.

Sheriff’s Sgt. Cindi West said that the girl awoke in her family’s apartment in the 20000 block of Whitman Avenue North in Shoreline around 3 a.m. to find the man in her room. The girl was reportedly home with two younger siblings while her mother was at work. Her uncle had been watching the children, but he left before the mother came home, West said.

The man fled when the girl’s mother came home during the attack.

The man is believed to be in his 30s. He is approximately 5-feet-10 with a medium build, according to the Sheriff’s Office. The man was last seen wearing a white and blue striped shirt and dark-colored jeans.

West did not say whether the girl knew the man.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Sheriff’s Office Special Assault Unit at 206-296-7557.
