Board selects candidate for Lk. Wash. schools supe

Dr. Traci Pierce (Lake Washington School District)

The Lake Washington School District’s board of directors has endorsed the district’s current deputy superintendent to be the district’s new superintendent.

Dr. Traci Pierce, who has headed the district’s instructional services, was unanimously chosen as the board’s preferred candidate to replace Dr. Chip Kimball, who is leaving to become superintendent of the Singapore American School.

The board stressed that Pierce, a University of Washington graduate, will provide continuity in the face of several major district initiatives, including the change in grade configurations next fall and the creation of a Science, Technology, Engineering and Math high school.

Kimball praised the district’s endorsement of Pierce.

“Traci is talented, motivated, and cares deeply about students,” said Kimball, who noted her depth of experience as a teacher, principal and administrator in the district. “The Lake Washington School District will be in good hands under her leadership.”
