Boat fire extinguished at Port of Everett South Marina

Firefighers in Everett extinguished a boat fire at the Port of Everett South Marina early this morning.

The boat’s owner said he had been sleeping on the boat and woke to discover smoke. He left the boat and called 911.

One of the engines started on its own and would not shut off, possibly due to an electrical malfunction, the Everett Fire Department said.  Firefighters cut  its fuel supply.  The twin diesel boat’s hull appeared to be intact but the boat’s interior sustained extensive damage, although the fire department had no estimate on the dollar loss.
