UPDATE: Bakery shooting gunman arrested; victim ID'd

UPDATE: 3:30 p.m.  The King County Medical Examiner’s Office has released the name of the man shot at a 24-hour bakery in White Center just after midnight Wednesday.

Jason O. Saechao, 24,  died after being shot several times by another man at the Seattle Roll bakery in  the 9800 block of 16th Avenue Southwest, according to the King County Sheriff’s Office.

The suspected shooter was arrested and taken into custody around 9:30 a.m., according to the sheriff’s office.

Cindi West, spokeswoman for the sheriff’s office, said the shooting was the result of a dispute between the suspected shooter and other people earlier this week, and not a robbery as initially reported.

Witnesses told sheriff’s deputies they had lied about there being a robbery because they were afraid the shooter would return and retaliate.

West said the shooting stemmed from a dispute an employee of the bakery had with the victim earlier this week.

The employee, the victim and several other people were at the bakery late Tuesday night when the suspected gunman, who was known to both the victim and the employee went to the bakery and confronted the victim about the earlier dispute, West said.

During the argument, the suspected shooter pulled out a handgun and shot the victim several times, West said.

Original post:

King County sheriff’s deputies are investigating a fatal shooting at the 24-hour Seattle Roll bakery in White Center around midnight.

The man who had been shot is believed to be in his 20s and had been hanging out with friends inside the bakery located in the 9800 block of 16th Avevue Southwest, said sheriff’s Sgt. Cindi West. Two others inside the bakery, one of whom is an employee, were not hurt.

Deputies offered a vague description of the gunman, only saying that they are looking for a man about 5-feet 8-inches in height. He was last seen dressed in a blue hooded sweatshirt.

Authorities said the gunman and the victim knew one another and that contrary to earlier reports, the shooting was not a robbery; it does not appear it was gang-related.

“There was just some bad blood between some people. There’s a lot involved,” West said.
