The fire started shortly after 6 p.m. The first firefighters on the scene reported flames were more than 100 feet above the building. (Greg Gilbert/The Seattle Times) UPDATE: The fire is under control. Lt. Sue Stangle, spokeswoman for Seattle Fire Department, said the fire started in a house behind Kitaro Sushi at the corner of Densmore Avenue and North 45th Street. When firefighters arrived, they saw flames and smoke, and the house was heavily involved. A woman, who was in the house when the fire started, had managed to escape, Stangle said. Eighty-eight firefighters responded to the fire, she said. The effort now is to check nearby buildings for fire. North 45th Street is still closed in the area of the fire. There is not points to locate on the mapSeattle fire crews are battling a blaze at 1624 N. 45th St. in Wallingford. The fire is apparently at or near Kitaro Sushi. The fire was first reported at 6 p.m., according to the Seattle Fire Department’s 911 log. Times newspartner MyWallingford.com says the fire is next door to Molly Moon’s Homemade Ice Cream, which is located at 1622 N. 45th St No injuries have been reported. North 45th is closed to traffic for several blocks because of the large fire response. We’ll update this post as soon as we get more information.
