Update: House fire in Ballard was accidental

There is not points to locate on the map

Update 2:13 p.m. A Seattle Fire investigator has deemed a house fire between the Ballard and Fremont neighborhoods Friday night accidental.

The fire, in the 4300 block of Fifth Avenue Northwest “started when combustibles piled too close to an operating power generator ignited inside the house,” according to the Seattle Fire Department Fire Line blog post.

After the call came in around 9:30 p.m., firefighters arrived to see the house fully engulfed in flames and smoke, which were spreading to the house next door.

The residents of the house, who were home at the time, got out safely and there were no injuries. The Fire Department said damage to the two homes is estimated at $300,000.

The Fire Department reminds people that gas powered generators are never to be used indoors.

Original Post:

Seattle firefighters have been battling a blaze in Fremont that has spread from one house to another nearby.

Fire Department spokeswoman Helen Fitzpatrick said there is extensive damage to both houses located at Sixth Avenue Northwest and Northwest Bright Street.

There have been no injuries, Fitzpatrick said, but  it isn’t known whether anybody was inside  the houses.
