Kent family displaced by house fire

There is not points to locate on the map

A Kent family won’t be home for the holidays after fire swept through their house this morning, according to the Kent Fire Department.

Family members smelled smoke around 7:30 a.m. and saw lights in the East Hill home flickering.  They found thick, dark smoke in one of the upstairs bedrooms.

The family left the home and called 911.

Kent fire investigators said the fire was caused by an overheated fan which caught fire and ignited combustibles. Smoke detectors were not working at the time of the fire.

Damage to the home in the 25100 block of 170th Way Southeast is estimated at $75,000.  There were no injuries.

The family of four will be staying with relatives.
