A man was pulled from Lake Union this morning near the Center for Wooden Boats. Firefighters and medics worked for more than a half hour to revive him before transporting him to Harborview Medical Center in an ambulance.

He was in “very critical condition,” said Seattle Fire Department Battalion Chief John Gablehouse.

Gablehouse said a dog-walker saw the man in the water about 20 or 30 feet off the dock at Lake Union Park. He first appeared to be diving for something under the water but then was floating.

The crew of a nearby sailboat, The Adventuress, set out in an inflatable dinghy and pulled the man from the water.

He was wearing a leather jacket and had no ID, said Gablehouse, and there was no sign of foul play.

“If it wasn’t for the witness — the person walking the dog — and the actions of the sailboat crew, this young man would probably had no chance at all,” said Gablehouse.
