Medical marijuana for ADD, OCD? Hearing scheduled
A state medical board that regulates medical marijuana has scheduled a hearing for January to consider adding Attention Deficit Disorder and Obsessive Compulsive Disorder as qualifying conditions.
The Medical Quality Assurance Commission, acting on a request from a patient, has scheduled a hearing at 7 p.m. on Jan. 11 at the Holiday Inn in Renton.
The state medical marijuana law empowers the board to expand the list of conditions which qualify. It did so last year, adding chronic renal failure to a list that also includes cancer, HIV, Crohn’s disease and others.
The board previously rejected requests to add anxiety, depression, social phobia and bipolar disorders, although some patients say marijuana offers therapeutic relief of symptoms.
