Police warning follows Bainbridge Island mail theft

The theft of mail from a Bainbridge Island postal drop box has prompted a warning from police.

At about 5 this morning, officials at the Bainbridge Island Post Office reported extensive damage to the Bjune Drive postal drop box as well as the theft of mail. The box contained mail dropped off after 3:15 p.m. Saturday, according to police.

Postal customers who used the box to deposit sensitive mail, including credit card bills, tax information or any other confidential information, should take steps to secure their accounts, police said.

Anyone with information on the theft is asked to contact the Bainbridge Island Police Department at 206-842-5211.
