Police investigating apparent homicide in N. Seattle

Seattle police are at the scene of an apparent homicide at a retirement community near Bitter Lake in North Seattle. The victim is a 70-year-old man, who police believe lived alone.

Police spokeswoman Renee Witt said one of the man’s neighbors at the Four Freedoms House of Seattle had not seen him for a while, and the man did not answer his door.

The neighbor found the man’s body and called the Fire Department.

Police were summoned based on the nature of the man’s injuries.

The body showed evidence of obvious trauma, Witt said. Detectives are treating the death as a homicide.

The Four Freedoms House is in the 700 block of North 135th Street.
