Enfield won't seek Seattle superintendent's job

Seattle Schools interim superintendent Susan Enfield

Susan Enfield, the Seattle Public Schools interim superintendent, announced today in a letter that she does not want the job permanently.

Enfield stepped in last year after former Superintendent Maria Goodloe-Johnson was fired in March amid a district contracting scandal.

In her letter, Enfield cited improvements during her tenure and wrote:

While I am proud of what we have accomplished together, today I am announcing my decision to neither seek nor accept the permanent position of superintendent after my contract ends in June.  This was not an easy decision for me to make given my commitment to Seattle and to our students.
