Suspect arrested in shooting death of Des Moines woman

A suspect has been arrested in the slaying of a young woman and the wounding of a young man in Des Moines on Nov. 5.

Des Moines Police arrested a 29-year-old at his home without incident last night, according to a police statement.

Police had been looking for two suspects in the shooting death of Jayme Thomas, 19, and Scott Kennedy, 24, who were shot in the 800 block of Redondo Way South about 2:30 a.m. Both were taken to Harborview Medical Center, where Thomas died.

The shooting occurred following an argument that broke out between two groups. Thomas and Kennedy were standing outside their car at the time but got in the car before the shooting, according to police.
