The Morning Memo/Friday: CO poisoning, no bomb, tinted windows

Weather: Did you have fog this morning? We had rain showers. Didn’t we say there would be fog? Go figure. Hey, the chart here says “Very light rain/SNOW.” Snow? The Weather Service makes no mention of snow. Whew! Fog is forecast for the next several days, although there could be sun breaks today and Monday. Cross your fingers. Yeah, right. The details.

Traffic: Since it’s wet in some places, driving a tad slower might be wise. The map and cams.

Carbon monoxide poisoning: It’s that time of the year again. Don’t use gas engines or charcoal grills and the like inside your home to stay warm. Not sure of all the details, but the AP reports this morning that a family in Aberdeen was taken to a hospital last night to be treated for carbon monoxide poisoning. They had a generator running in the basement of their house.

Scarlett Paxton

Car windows tinted a wee too dark can get lead to trouble. Just ask the guy who got stopped Wednesday by the Washington State Patrol in Yakima. (It doesn’t help if you have marijuana and a loaded pistol under the seat, too.) You’ll find the story in The Yakima Herald-Republic.

The death of the 19-year-old Scarlett Paxton in Kirkland two days ago sure leaves a lot of questions unanswered. We hope the police will provide some of those answers today.

Not a bomb, but he played a bad hand …

The Associated Press
FERNDALE, Whatcom County – The Bellingham police bomb squad found only a laptop computer inside a suitcase after a man made a bomb threat at the Lummi Nation Silver Reef Casino.

Hey, how about those Seahawks? No, really…
