The Morning Memo/Thursday: Bicyclist killed, lunar eclipse, guilty plea

Weather: As we said Wednesday, foggy then cloudy today, foggy then cloudy Friday, chance of showers on the weekend. Going to be cold tonight, as in 32 degrees. Your furnace is working, yes? The details.

Traffic: The map and cams.

Bicyclist killed: A bicyclist was hit by a car and died early this morning in Kirkland, according to a KIRO-TV/Associated Press report. The car stayed at the intersection where the accident occurred. The bicyclist may have been carrying a fast food meal when struck around 3 a.m.

Recruiting station plot: One of the two men accused of plotting to blow up a military recruiting station in Seattle is expected to plead guilty in federal court this morning, according to The Associated Press. Walli Mujahidh, 32, is expected to plead guilty to several charges. We’ll be there.

Lunar eclipse: There’s a big one coming Saturday, and if the weather cooperates (yeah, right), we might get to see it. Our Jack Broom will be writing a story in advance of the event.

The public will get its first look inside the Space Gallery at the Museum of Flight on Saturday. It's connected to the main museum by a skybridge. (Photo by Mark Harrison / The Seattle Times)

Museum of Flight Space Gallery: The dedication of the new gallery is at 11 a.m. today, and it will be named in honor of Charles Simonyi, Medina software innovator, philanthropist and one of the first “space tourists,” who twice traveled as a paying passenger on Russian space missions. Simonyi is expected to have an announcement of his own? We’ll keep you posted.
