Two major roadways to close at times this week

Two major traffic corridors will close overnight in coming days.

On Monday night, southbound Highway 99 from the Battery Street Tunnel to the West Seattle Bridge will close from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m., according to the Washington State Department of Transportation.

Starting Tuesday night and ending Friday morning, the Seattle Department of Transportation will close both directions of Elliott Avenue West between Fourth Avenue West and Western Avenue West to allow crews to place girders for a new West Thomas Street pedestrian and bicycle overpass.

The rolling shutdown of Elliott Avenue West begins at 6 p.m. on Tuesday with the closing of one northbound lane, SDOT said. By midnight, all lanes will be closed to all traffic, including pedestrians and bicycles, until 5 a.m. This schedule will repeat on Wednesday and Thursday night.
